Roughness-dependent tribological characteristics of water-based GO suspensions with ZrO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles as additives

چکیده

Hybrid nanosuspensions were synthesised through ultrasonically dispersing ZrO2 or TiO2 nanoparticles into graphene oxide (GO) nanosheet solutions for water-based lubrication. The effect of contact pair roughness on the tribological behaviours ZrO2/GO and TiO2/GO hybrid investigated using a block-on-ring testing approach. With relatively smooth ring, use could reduce abrasive wear, hence improve worn surface quality, owing to relieved asperity ploughing. ring moderate roughness, suppressed occurrence adhesive wear relieving contact. rough generated deposited layer at area that can prevent asperities from direct contact, thus leading lower friction.

Tribological Behaviors of Graphene and Graphene Oxide as Water-Based Lubricant Additives for Magnesium Alloy/Steel Contacts

The tribological behaviors of graphene and graphene oxide (GO) as water-based lubricant additives were evaluated by use of a reciprocating ball-on-plate tribometer for magnesium alloy-steel contacts. Three sets of test conditions were examined to investigate the effect of concentration, the capacity of carrying load and the endurance of the lubrication film, respectively. The results showed tha...

Supplementary Materials: Improved Tribological Performance of Amorphous Carbon (a-C) Coating by ZrO2 Nanoparticles

Preliminary researches were carried out to study the effects of particle size on the wear behavior of a-C coating. The used nanoparticles are W (W-NPs), which have similar bulk hardness with ZrO2 (W: 7.5, ZrO2: 6.5, Mohs scale), but contain larger particles with the diameter of submicron and micron scale (Figure S1). The tribo-tests were performed under the same conditions with the ones used fo...

Improved Tribological Performance of Amorphous Carbon (a-C) Coating by ZrO2 Nanoparticles

Nanomaterials, such as Graphene, h-BN nanoparticles and MoS₂ nanotubes, have shown their ability in improving the tribological performance of amorphous carbon (a-C) coatings. In the current study, the effectiveness of ZrO₂ nanoparticles (ZrO₂-NPs) in lubricating the self-mated nonhydrogenated a-C contacts was investigated in boundary lubrication regime. The results showed that 13% less friction...
